Mid-Week

Made it this far – that’s a good sign :D

Had class this morning, as usual – but also had our first test O_o I did fairly well – most certainly not as good as I could have, but not horrible.  Now I know what to expect though.  And we do get to drop out lowest test score at the end of the session ^-^

So far the week is progressing fairly well.  Work is work – which has been fairly slow as of late, which leads to times of being *extreme* boredom, which leads to getting all the closing duties and cleaning done -way- before time to go.  Not a bad thing over-all, but a bit mind numbing at times.

Work again at 4 today – but it means I’ll have 30+ hours this next check, for which my bank account thanks me :)   Next day off is Saturday, for a total of 6 straight days  @_@  I know, not as bad as some, but still :P

Off to finish the day!

Monday

So, it’s Monday of another week.  Though, as I work every Sunday, that almost makes this a Tuesday – though that doesn’t mean the weekend comes any sooner, just that the last got a little shorter :P

I had a good weekend ^_^ On Saturday, a friend invited me out to a gaming event.  I met up with him and some of his friends, and we ran through a short module that gave us a taste of the new D&D 4E system.  What we played ran a lot like MMO Miniatures – which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.  The combat is pretty stream-lined, which allows it to take place much faster while remaining interesting (hopefully).  The question will be if it’s possible to add back in the role-play to go along with the system.  If so, I think it could be a lot of fun ^_^

We were at the event til a bit after 9, then we all went to Qdoba and had something to eat.  All told, we were probably there at least an hour, just talking and comparing stories.  We were trying to decide on a game we could all play together, though our bunny trails had bunny trails as often as we got on to something else :D   It was fun though, as it was a group of fascinating people ^^

After food, we headed back to aforementioned friend’s house and sat and talked a while longer, going over the idea of a couple different games/systems, and finally settling on Scion.  Excellent White Wolf game – you should check it out if you haven’t before.  We were there til almost 2:30 in the morning before we all packed up and headed out.  We never actually came up with when this playing might take place .. but at least we have a grounding to build it off of :D

Yesterday was work all morning, then relaxing a bit when I got home.  Hopped on FFXI for a while and lvld my BRD :D   Just finally made over lvl 30 in my first primary class, so I get to unlock all the extra classes now :)   I have a feeling that BRD will become my primary class, but I still want to check out a bunch of the others, just to play around a bit ^^

Today – there is work later today.  In fact, I work every day this week except Saturday @_@  Now, my bank account will certainly appreciate the hours, but I’m going to be dragging come the weekend -_-

Here’s to shinee things to get me through the week, and something spectacular once again to mark the coming weekend! :D

I should *so* be asleep right now :P

Well, it’s certainly been an interesting last few days ^^;  I had a four question, one page each essay mid-term for my Geography class, a 5-8 minute informative speech for public speaking, and a homework set plus study for a lab test for Astronomy today >_<;

I have fought with myself all week, trying to get this work done, and I just kept coming up short.  End result being that I was up all night last night to get my speech written/finished.  Around 4ish it finally gelled and I got it all down.  Spent most of the rest of the time trying to finish up Geography, other than the time to shower and get ready to head off to school.

First class of the day is at 9, and it’s the basic comp class.  Nothing big there, so that made me happy ^^  Wind up getting to Geography, and she told us that we could submit our question/papers to her over the course of the weekend ^_^! That was one major worry less.

Then came Public Speaking, and I was #3, actually presenting as number 2, as #1 wasn’t ready to go.  After class was over, I was packing up my stuff and the teacher told me that I had presented very well.  She was impressed how I had taken such a broad topic (written language) and found a way to condense and present it in such a manner that it was interesting.  The teacher telling me I presented well – that makes me happy ^_^

When I got to Astronomy, it was mostly lecture.  Turned out that the lab test was rather short, and nothing to worry about after all ^^

I went to the library after class was over, sat at one of the study carols and faded in and out for a bit while I listened to music.  Not my original intentions, but that’s what happened :P   Wound up coming home, and I’ve been doing little things to keep me busy since then.

I know if I laid down, I’d pass out.  I’m to the point where I’m awake though, just plus a small headache. Been up since about 10:30 yesterday morning ^^;

All in all, things have worked out fairly well – just have to keep at it.

After an hour of work, a bloody knuckle, and a broken passenger side door handle – I’ve decided to call it quits for the day.  I know, I know – it’s still rather early, but I don’t believe I’ll be getting into my car any time soon.  So, I will work from home today and send emails to my professors.  And seeing as we have Friday and Monday off, that means I won’t be having class again til next Wednesday.

It’s dangerous when the world seems to conspire with a desire to shirk responsibility -_-;  Here’s to a better week next week.

Today has been an interesting day so far ^^

I set my alarm this morning, then decided that once I was up I didn’t really need to be up after all. So, I went downstairs and switched out the load of laundry I washed last night into the dryer, then came back upstairs and reset my alarm for an hour later.

I dreamed over the course of that hour – I actually woke up about 30 mins later than I had planned, as apparently my alarm didn’t go off. Thinking back over the dream, I can see where much of the imagery my subconscious used was pulled from. That doesn’t change the fact that it was a new story though – at least, not one I’ve heard before. A member of the Dark Carnival had come to a small town. There was a beautiful maiden involved – who was of course not what she seemed. There was a hero moved by love – but not in the conventional sense. And there was the town itself – watched over by Guardians unknown.

The place of a Guardian is not to act directly in a situation, though there are times when that eventuality will come and hands are forced. The purpose of a Guardian is to provide that place of safety, where opportunity will meet knowledge and action. As large as a great city, as small as an inn, a moment wrapped in song – wherever there is fear that calls to be faced and answered – that is their place.

I hopped in and out of the shower, got dressed, and grabbed my things to head out the door for class. And what I found – a car iced shut >_< Was supposed to have class today, but that didn’t happen. Fortunately, the class was only review for our final next week.

Once I got the car cleaned off, I wound up heading out to Borders. Spent some time there looking around, and picked up a book. Grabbed some lunch after that and just sat and thought for a bit. Eventually made my way back here, where I’ve worked a bit, before having to head off to work :)

In fact, it’s about that time. Guess I should get suited up ^_^

The Road Not Taken

Yes, I’m certain most of you have read this before – as have I – but a friend IMed it to me after I announced Hug Day, and it just felt very apropos ^_^

Enjoy :)

The Road Not Taken

by Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference

I declare a Hug Day!

Snag someone before they get away! :D

It’s been interesting so far this week ^^ Things are going fairly well, and I’m getting school work done. I’ve been thinking a bit lately, and I’ve realized that if I want to be able to change the paths I’ve walked in for ages now, I’m going to have to make some new ones. I’m trying this one out to see how it goes over ^_^

*HUG!*

Thankful

It has, indeed, been a rather interesting Thanksgiving. Spent most of the day at home, chatting and working on a paper. The roomies cooked a dinner, and I helped out with part of it. The meal was actually quite good. Went to visit with some friends after that, then headed back home. And now I have to be at work at 4:30 AM for an eight (8) hour shift :P

What am I thankful for this year? I’m thankful that I’m back in school finally – that is a major plus. I’m thankful that I have a place to live and food to eat. I’m thankful for friends who care about me.

I’m thankful that I have decided that simply existing is not enough. I’m thankful that I have instead decided to live – with all the sorrows and wonders, fears and joys that that has and will continue to entail. I am thankful that every day, life continues.

Back again ^_^

So, it’s been forever since I posted last. I’m learning better than to say “such will happen and so when it will be” :P The other side of that being that I still want to post more, so I’m just going to have to work at it a bit more.

Things have been going fairly well. School continues, work is work, and life is much more interesting with friends along ^^ I’ve been learning a fair number of different things over the last couple of months, and I must say that I fell quite fortunate in all cases.

Saw Beowulf on Thursday evening last week – a pretty good movie in and of itself, but not so much in regards to the classic tale. So go see it, but read the original as well … or, at least a version translated into modern English :)

Also saw August Rush.
Ok, personally, that movie struck a very deep chord in me (pun intentional, thankyouverymuch :P ). I’ve always known that music has a profound effect on me, but this movie simply proved it more so. It’s one I’d enjoy seeing in the theater again to be honest, and I’ll definitely be getting the DVD of when it becomes available.

Anyway, not a lot to say at the moment, but wanted to put something out there ^_^

Meme post ^_^;
