Q17 : Jacob Bronowski
quotes August 20th, 2008It is important that students bring a certain ragamuffin, barefoot irreverence to their studies; they are not here to worship what is known, but to question it.

I have classes
Way back in May, I signed up for the classes I’m getting ready to start. I’ll have four courses, for a total of thirteen hours. After this semester, I’ll have finished up my AA transfer degree, and I’ll be ready to go on for a full degree in something else ^^
I love school. I love being in a place where knowledge is treasured. I love being around people who *want* to learn, because they can. Yes, there are still those there because they “have” to be, be it for parents or to get a job – and those are after all valid reasons – but with motivation like that, much opportunity for learning is lost in the absent-minded or rushed approach to the experiences.
I’m looking forward to my courses, and one in particular. When I first started back last fall, one of the required courses I needed was another English credit. I signed up for an advance comp course, and the professor I got was absolutely *amazing*. She was telling me toward the end of the semester that she had another, specialty writing type course she was wanting to teach, and though she had taught it at her previous college, it would be a first here. I was fascinated when she first told me about it, and now it’s about to start
This will be a good semester. I’ve fought through the previous semesters, and I know it will still be a struggle this time as well, but I’m learning how to progress, and I’m getting better at it. I bought my books, I have *plenty* of supplies ( … glances around his room … ^^;;; ), and now the time is fast approaching.
CLASSES HO! ^_^!!
